From the first time I stepped into a kart, I knew I wanted a custom-painted helmet. There was just something about it, a way to show personality, stand out, and make the helmet feel truly mine. But like a lot of things in racing, it came down to budget, and getting one professionally painted just wasn’t in the cards.
During the 2023 off-season, I started thinking-why not try it myself? I spent months diving into research, learning everything I could about the process. Turns out, painting a helmet is extremely technical and takes a ton of time. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I was determined to give it a shot. I spent my entire winter practicing on old helmets and It was rough at first, but after a couple more months and with the 2024 season around the corner, I felt ready. I ordered a brand new Arai GP6 and went for it.
To my surprise, it turned out way better than I expected. And somewhere along the way, I realized I actually really enjoyed the process. After a lot of thought, I decided to start NH Designs—a way for me to keep painting, stay involved in the sport I love, and help other drivers bring their ideas to life.

At NH Designs, I get that your helmet is more than just part of the gear, it’s one of the only ways you get to express yourself, and stand out on track. With so many teams and plain helmets looking the same, it’s easy to blend in. That’s why a having painted helmet is such a big deal.
NH Designs is still a new and growing business, built from a love for racing and design. Every helmet is a learning experience, and with each one, the process gets better. While I'm still improving and dialing in the finer details, we never cut corners. Quality is something I take seriously, and every lid gets the time and attention it deserves.

THE PROCESS
I believe your helmet should be as unique as you are—and I'm here to help bring your vision to life.
GET IN LINE
Start by heading over to the booking page and fill out the short form with your contact info and any initial ideas you have. This helps me understand what you’re looking for and where to start.
After you submit your request, I'll personally reach out to discuss your project. At this stage, I'll go over your ideas, answer any questions, and provide you with a custom timeline based on my current queue.
To reserve your place in line and begin the design process, I require a $300 non-refundable deposit. This goes toward the final cost of your helmet and locks in your spot on my schedule.
DESIGN COLLABORATION
I will work closely with you to create a design you’re 100% happy with. Whether you come to me with a fully formed concept or just a blank slate, I've got you covered. You can share all your ideas, inspirations, or references—and if you're not sure where to start, I'll build a custom design from scratch that fits your style and purpose.
HELMET OPTIONS
Once the design is finalized and approved by you, you have a few options:

THE PAINTING PROCESS
Once I begin, the entire process typically takes about 8 weeks. During that time I will send updates, and progress photos.
FINISHING UP
Once your helmet is complete, I reach out to coordinate the return—whether that’s through shipping, local pickup, or delivery.
PRICING
Helmet painting is an extremely complicated, difficult, and expensive process which is why it can come at a premium. Every helmet design is created by hand and takes up to 40+ hours of meticulous work. From initial sketches to masking, airbrushing, and clear coating, each stage requires a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.

What’s Included in the Price?
The listed price covers everything from the initial custom design consultation to the final paintwork. This includes concept sketches, masking, airbrushing, and clear coating for a professional-grade finish. The price could also differ slightly depending on the complexity of the design you're looking for.
Please note:
The cost of the helmet itself, accessories (such as visors or spoilers), and shipping are not included in the base price.

I also offer a range of specialty options that can be added for an additional cost, including:
